Oh December, I had great plans to power through my to-be-read pile of books! 3 weeks spent road-tripping around West Coast USA should have meant I had plenty of down-time to read at night once the kids were in bed, but it seems I was just as tired as them after our busy days.
Lost Without You – Rachel Johns
This is the first book I’ve read from Australian author Rachael Johns, and suffice to say it won’t be my last. I absolutely loved the idea of Paige, Rebecca, Clara and Josie all coming into each other’s lives through their connection with a wedding dress. Rachael expertly weaves the characters and their own individual tales into a masterpiece, while also touching on important and sensitive issues in today’s society.
Evermore – Sara Holland
I’m not a big reader of the YA and Fantasy genres, so it needs to be an exceptional story to get me reading! Luckily, Sara Holland delivers the goods with her latest release. Evermore is the highly anticipated sequel to Everless (which I stumbled across last year and ended up reading in one night), where we are first introduced to Jules Ember. In a land where time is bound to your blood, Jules must re-discover her past in order to confront the Sorceress and clear her name. Fast paced action and well-written characters lend themselves well to this engaging story. I personally found the idea of time being bound to your blood an intriguing and unusual concept.
