Side Hustle Ideas – Surveys and Market Research

As a stay-at-home parent, anything I can do to as a side-hustle for a little extra cash in the weekly budget without having to get out of my pyjamas and leave the house is always welcome! I’ve been completing online surveys and market research for about 10 years now, averaging around $3,000 a year in extra income.

I most commonly get paid in either cash (bank deposits), PayPal redemptions, or gift cards. Sometimes I’ve even received products to test and keep for free, like nappies and baby wipes, cleaning products and once even a coffee machine!

My #1 tip to ensure you receive plenty of survey invites is to make sure you’ve completed your profile 100%. You may also want to set up another email address specifically for surveys and market research if you don’t want your regular email inbox getting clogged up with survey invites. Please do note that earning money from surveys and market research isn’t a full-time income.

Market Research

Market research focus groups, interviews and online panels can be more lucrative than online surveys due to their higher payment rates, especially if you live in a capital city or major regional hub and are able to attend the face-to-face interviews and group sessions. However, you can still make a decent amount from market research if you live in a rural or remote area with telephone interviews and online surveys and panels.
